Concrete Floor Cost Calculator Guide

How To Calculate Concrete Floor Cost

A Concrete Floor Cost Calculator combines floor geometry with the real cost components that apply to the project. Start by calculating the floor area, multiply by slab thickness to get cubic metres, then add any chosen allowance and the cost inputs you want included.

The calculator above uses editable rates rather than publishing one fixed concrete floor price. Concrete supply, labour, reinforcement, base preparation, formwork and finishing costs can vary with project scope, site access, specification and local suppliers.

Rectangular Concrete Floor Formula

Floor Volume Volume (m³) = Length (m) × Width (m) × Thickness (m)

A 6 m × 5 m floor that is 100 mm thick has an area of 30 m² and a base concrete volume of 3.00 m³. Convert 100 mm to 0.10 m before multiplying.

Round Concrete Floor Formula

Round Floor Volume Volume = π × Radius² × Thickness

Divide diameter by two to find radius. The calculator reports both area and volume so the final estimate can also be shown as cost per square metre.

Multiple Concrete Floor Areas

If several identical floor sections are being poured, use the Multiple Floors option. If the sections differ in size or thickness, calculate them separately and add the results.

Concrete Floor Waste Allowance

Small differences in base level, formwork, thickness and placement can change the actual quantity. The calculator starts with no built-in waste percentage, so you choose the allowance that fits the project.

Quantity Tip: Recheck Finished Levels, Floor Thickness, Edge Forms And Any Thickened Sections Before Ordering Concrete. Add Beams, Steps Or Thickened Edges Separately If They Are Not Included In The Simple Floor Geometry.

Ready Mix Concrete Floor Cost

Enter the current supplier rate per cubic metre. The calculator multiplies the order volume by that rate and adds the delivery or short-load charge separately.

For a detailed supplier-cost breakdown, use the Ready Mix Concrete Cost Calculator.

Concrete Floor Labour Cost

Labour can include placing, screeding, bull-floating, edging, finishing, joint work, curing and cleanup depending on the scope. Enter your own total labour amount or use the Concrete Labor Cost Calculator.

Reinforcement Cost

Concrete floors can include mesh, reinforcing bars, chairs, dowels and other reinforcement. The calculator does not choose reinforcement. Enter the cost from the actual project takeoff or supplier quote.

Base Preparation Cost

Floor construction may require excavation, compacted base, levelling, vapour-control layers or other preparation. Use the Base / Excavation field for the amount you want included in the estimate.

Formwork And Edge Cost

Perimeter forms, internal rebates, steps, setdowns or thickened edges can add cost. Enter these separately if they are not already part of the labour total.

Concrete Floor Finishing Cost

Floor finishing can range from a simple broom or trowel finish to grinding, polishing, sealing or decorative treatments. The finishing field can be used for the total amount associated with the finish you are pricing.

Polished Concrete Floor Cost

Polished concrete is more than just concrete supply. Grinding stages, densifiers, polishing, edge work and sealing can affect the total. Use the finishing field for the quoted polishing scope rather than assuming a fixed rate.

Concrete Garage Floor Cost

Garage floors often require careful base preparation, reinforcement, joints and finishing in addition to the concrete itself. If your main goal is quantity planning, use the Concrete Garage Floor Calculator if available on the site.

Concrete Floor Cost Per Square Metre

The calculator divides the final estimated project total by the floor area. This provides an effective cost per m² based on exactly which costs you entered.

Cost Per Square Metre Cost Per m² = Final Estimated Floor Cost ÷ Floor Area

Concrete Floor Cost For A House

A house floor can include beams, thickened areas, setdowns and services that are not represented by one uniform slab thickness. Calculate separate sections where needed and use the project drawings for structural dimensions.

Concrete Floor Cost For A Shed

Shed floors can be simple rectangular slabs, but excavation, subbase, reinforcement and edge details may still be significant. Enter those costs separately to avoid hiding them inside the concrete rate.

Concrete Floor Cost For A Workshop

Workshop floors may have higher load demands, different reinforcement or thicker concrete. The calculator can estimate quantity and cost once the required thickness and specification are already known.

How To Make A Concrete Floor Estimate More Accurate

  1. Measure The Actual Floor Area.
  2. Use The Required Structural Thickness.
  3. Add Beams, Thickened Edges And Setdowns Separately.
  4. Use A Current Ready-Mix Quote.
  5. Enter Delivery And Short-Load Charges Only Once.
  6. Use Actual Labour, Reinforcement And Base Estimates.
  7. Include The Required Floor Finish.
  8. Check Whether Entered Prices Include GST Or Tax.

Why The Light 0 Does Not Add A Leading Zero

All numeric fields start empty and display a light 0 placeholder only. Typing 6 gives 6 rather than 06, and the entered number remains clear without blur.

What The Concrete Floor Cost Calculator Does Not Design

This calculator estimates quantity and cost only. It does not select floor thickness, reinforcement, concrete strength, base design, vapour barriers, joints, drainage, load capacity or structural requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Concrete Floor Cost Calculator FAQs

Quick Answers About Floor Volume, Ready Mix, Labour, Reinforcement, Finishing And Cost Per Square Metre.

How Do I Calculate Concrete Floor Cost?

Calculate The Floor Volume, Add Any Project-Specific Allowance, Multiply By Your Concrete Rate, Then Add Delivery, Labour, Reinforcement, Base Preparation, Formwork, Finishing And Other Costs.

How Do I Calculate Concrete Volume For A Floor?

For A Rectangular Floor, Multiply Length By Width By Thickness In Metres.

Does The Calculator Show Floor Area?

Yes. Rectangular, Round And Multiple-Floor Options Calculate Area Automatically.

Does It Calculate Cost Per Square Metre?

Yes. The Final Estimated Project Total Is Divided By Floor Area.

Can I Include Polishing Or Finishing?
